You'll join a group of up to 46 dedicated professionals who bring a blend of experience and fresh perspectives to forest sector safety, Indigenous reconciliation, and sustainable forest management. We work together to auction a significant portion of the province's annual timber volume, providing essential market data that positively impacts communities, public forests, and the economy. The Role
As the Forestry Operations Manager, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for all planning, engineering, and First Nations relations activities for the Business Area, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and best practices. You'll play a pivotal part in promoting sustainable forestry practices that bring economic benefits to local communities, with a focus on innovation, environmental stewardship, and safety. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in resource management, public administration, Indigenous studies or equivalentandfive (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience in program administration including allocating resources, leading and coaching diverse teams, supervising staff and in strategic business planning, procurement and financial management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with Indigenousand industry partnersin natural resource management or infrastructure development.
  • Experience with resolving problems through negotiation.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Experience participating in negotiations with Indigenous Peoples.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Peoples.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of either of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill temporary and permanent vacancies within the BC Timber Sales Peace-Liard Business Area, Dawson Creek or Fort St John.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
