Canada's Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the country's most longstanding and largest tax incentive programs (50 years and $4bn annually). It is intended to create a thriving environment for R&D and foster technological innovation. KPMG's Tax Incentives Practice (TIP) consists of a diverse team of engineers, scientists and accountants, that assist our clients to obtain tax savings and grants through incentive programs like SR&ED .
KPMG is seeking an engineering or computer science trained SR&ED professional to join its GTA TIP team. In this role, you will directly engage with the client C-Suite, Lead Architects and Directors of Engineering to assess projects for SR&ED value. As Senior Manager, you will lead a team of technology specialists to identify software and/or engineering related activities that qualify for the SR&ED program or other technology related incentives (e.g. grants).

What you will do
- Plan, organize and execute engagements on time and within budget; as internal champion for each client, you will mentor, and direct specialist resources to complete SR&ED claims from proposal to final deliverable;
- As key client technical liaison; you will develop and organize client interviews/workshops to define a project eligibility framework that articulates SR&ED eligibility;
- Responsible to organize the preparation of the technical deliverables related to SR&ED and other grant claims; as Senior Manager, you will review claim justifications prepared by team specialists and represent the client during CRA technology reviews;
- Represent TIP in the external market (e.g. involvement with accelerators, membership in industry groups) and respond to new client proposals;
- Help build the TIP future by owning the development of internal process tools, templates and dashboards to enhance operational efficiency and improve client engagement.
- BSc. or MSc. in Computer Science, Software or Electrical Engineering OR similar field;
- 3 to 5 years of managing SR&ED engagements specializing in software R&D;
- Executive communication style and presentation skills (written and verbal);
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and success with CRA technical reviews.
- Be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state-of-the art innovations in a wide range of industries (computer science, quantum computing, rocket science, etc.);
