Job Description
The Payment Services team within the Health Care Operations department of WorkSafeBC is looking for a highly motivated Health Care Payment Officers to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.
In this role, you'll be calculating payments, therefore, sound math skills will be an asset to assist you with adjudicating and processing accounts for medical treatment expenses. Your exemplary communication skills and diplomacy are essential to ensure courteous, empathetic service when providing information and recommendations to injured workers and other connections.
This is a temporary 18-month opportunity.

Where you'll work

- Entitle and process health care benefits and travel arrangements for injured workers
- Process invoices and answer inquiries from health care providers, vendors, and workers
- Communicate with claimants, internal staff, physicians, hospitals, etc., to obtain or clarify payment information
- Authorize and process health care expenditures on a variety of payment systems
- Communicate in a persuasive, empathetic, respectful manner by listening and questioning for pertinent information
- Gather and analyze information, determine relevant facts, and apply established policy to make timely decisions
- Organize, prioritize, and multi-task in an environment that includes interruptions and changing priorities
- Clearly, concisely, and accurately explain complex information both verbally and in writing
- A minimum of grade 12 education (some post-secondary education is preferred)
- Recent work experience in an administrative or general office/business environment
- Experience working in a call center is an asset
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Successfully meet the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults
- Confirm you're legally entitled to work in Canada
