The Opportunity:

WSP Canada is making unprecedented investments in digital, ranging from automation to improve workflows through to using machine learning to bring our clients new insight. A Chief Innovation Officer was appointed earlier this year to drive this change.

As part of this innovation evolution, the Corporate Innovation team requires an individual with capabilities in identifying and developing opportunities to shift from traditional tools and services to data-driven ones - notably, low- and pro-code tools. This position reports to the Executive Director of Research & Innovation.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a high-performance, multi-disciplinary team to advance digital practices across the entire business. You will work with a wide range of subject matter experts solving technical problems across our business.

The Senior Digital Innovation Analyst will lead a shift in the delivery of digital services across the business by working with teams across all sectors

What you can expect to do here:

  • identify opportunities for converting traditional tools and services to data-driven ones;
  • guide innovators to see the bigger picture and fully scope their ideas, tools and services;
  • identify opportunities to consolidate and integrate existing digital tools;
  • explore ways to leverage the latest advancements in technologies such as Generative AI (including large language models) and computer vision;
  • support existing tool owners in developing tool long-term plans for the lifecycle of new and existing tools;
  • impart low- and pro-code skills to new and existing tool owners, and coach team members through adoption and future development;
  • provide guidance on technology stack;
  • provide guidance on making decisions for procurement vs build for new tools or increasing functionality or usability of existing tools;
  • where required, support in bids and client-facing projects that involve new digital tools;
  • review digital skills across the business, propose synergies and gaps within and between teams; and
  • support in identifying cross-business digital training requirements.


What you'll bring to WSP:

  • 5-10 years of experience in low- and pro-code tool development and data science in the engineering industry, with particular experience in Power platform solutions (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI, etc.).
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in operations research, data analytics or computer science
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience gathering requirements and developing low-code tools
  • Experience developing tool lifecycle plans and building business cases
